Chromium - micronutrient called a trace element with symbol Cr - a mineral component that occurs in the human body in small amounts, but is necessary for the optimal functioning of the body, where it contributes to the maintenance of normal macronutrient metabolism and helps to maintain proper blood glucose levels. Chromium is naturally present in food - the compound can be found in products such as whole grain products, yeast, eggs and vegetables such as broccoli, peas and tomatoes. The element is stored in the body mainly in the kidneys, spleen and testes, as well as in soft tissues, bones and blood, where it can bind to proteins, mainly transferrin. In its inorganic form, it can be absorbed in the human body in only 1%, while in the form of organic compounds, its absorption is much higher.
