Cissus is a succulent vine native to Asia and Africa. In Thailand, Cissus has long been one of the most commonly used medicinal plants. The plant has also been used in Ayurvedic naturopathy in India for centuries. In Sanskrit, Cissus is called ""Asthisamharaka"", which translates to ""to protect bones from destruction"" and gives an indication to one of the plant's properties.
